Sonia Sotomayor

Sonia Sotomayor came from a working class Puerto Rican family in the Bronx. She fought to overcome health issues and financial problems, received a Yale law education, and eventually became a judge. After more than a decade on the United States Court of Appeals, she assumed office as a Supreme Court Justice in 2009, becoming the first Latina in the Supreme Court of the United States.
