Pirate Hannah Pritchard
Aboard the Sea Hawk, Hannah Pritchard and her fellow pirates are sailing home to share the treasure they took from the British. But, during their journey, a British frigate attacks the Sea Hawk, destroying the ship. Hannah and a few crewmates narrowly escape with the treasure chest. Marooned on an island, Hannah and her friends are captured by the British. Hannah Jack Pritchard struggles to keep up with the men who surround her on the Sea Hawk, a ship that sails from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, during the American Revolution. Driven to avenge the death of her family, Hannah has disguised herself as young Jack to aid in the war against the British. A continuation of Bonnie Pryor's Hannah Pritchard: Pirate of the Revolution, Captured! finds Hannah at the mercy of British soldiers. Escaping from a battle at sea, Hannah and her shipmates take the stolen treasure to secure it on an island. Before long the friends are captured by the men from a British prison ship and taken to New York, to suffer in deteriorating conditions as British prisoners. Fighting sickness and hunger, they manage to escape and find refuge in a nearby barn. After their escape, the friends make their way to a shipyard. While bartering for supplies they learn that the working people who keep the shipyard going are under close watch by British soldiers. Without hesitation, Hannah and her friends create a plan to attack the soldiers, commandeer the ship, and finally return to Portsmouth., Children's Literature
