With a vampire, mummy, Frankenstein monster and a ghost, the only thing missing from this Halloween craft book is a werewolf. Most of the crafts are made from self-drying clay, but some utilize cardboard instead. Probably the most interesting craft would be the papier-mch ghost, complete with a clay ball and paper clip chain. The instructions to create these spooky decorations are concise and clear, although they do rely heavily on the pictures. Since the directions are not specific as to size, the characters could be tiny, or life-size. The materials and tools are simple and can be found in most houses, and caution is given to children about using toothbrushes; make sure they are old first! The haunted house that is created is only a faade, but creative crafters will find a way to make it complete and quite spooky. Considering the popularity of Halloween and vampires, this craft book is likely to get some heavy use in larger libraries., Children's Literature
