Only forty-eight pages long, it talks about the different types of forgeries, including paper money and coins, CDs, DVDs, paintings and other art forms; how to spot forgeries; how some counterfeiters have created fake ancient artifacts in an attempt to rewrite history; and finally, covers the training required to specialize in a forensics career dealing with uncovering fakes and forgeries. The layout is very appealing with its use of color-coded sidebars to present supplemental information. Of particular interest are True Crime sidebars which highlight actual cases in which counterfeiters were identified and foiled, and Examine the Evidence sidebars in which readers are asked to perform their own forensic experiments. Full color photographs accompany the text. Also included is a comprehensive table of contents and index, glossary, and suggestions for further reading both on the internet and in print.
