Andruw Jones

Andruw Jones is one of the most well-rounded players in baseball, with the ability to hit for both average and power, as well as play a nearly flawless centerfield. In 2006, Jones won his ninth consecutive gold glove for his outfield play. In addition to his athletic achievements, Jones has aided many charities, including "Jaden's Ladder," an organization dedicated to assisting women and children who have survived abusive situations. Jones and his wife, Nicole, serve as ambassadors for the charity.

Elementary and secondary school students will appreciate the dedication and commitment that these sports stars possess. Robinson, a freelance sportswriter and also an editor of medical and education books, provides vivid portraits of Jones and McNabb. Jones grew up on a Caribbean island and as a child dreamed of playing major league baseball someday. His dream came true when at 19 years of age he was invited to play for the Atlanta Braves. McNabb is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in the National Football League and has helped the Philadelphia Eagles to win several division titles. In his spare time, he serves as the national spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association.
