Counting Ladybugs 1-2-3
Pretty ladybugs illustrate this counting book. Using large type, sight words, and short sentences, young children learn to count. On the left side of each spread, a yummy ice cream cone attracts first one, then two ladybugs. Soon beginning readers are counting one to ten.

This new series of counting books "All About Counting Bugs 1-2-3" is not particularly interesting and unlikely to hold the attention of readers. The illustration, in this case what looks like ladybugs on an ice cream cone is repeated on every spread and all that happens is that one more bug is added. The text simply states the obvious—two ladybugs and the Arabic numeral 2. And so it goes, all the way from one to ten. Since ladybugs are considered farmer's helpers and eat lots of aphids, it might have been interesting to demonstrate that fact and even introduce a fact or two about ladybugs that kids would remember. It is not a particularly impressive introduction to counting. The closing page contains references to two older books, websites, and an index. This book is designated guided reading level "A" with the word count of twenty., Children's Literature
