Down, Zombie, Down!
Who let the zombies out? Leo is hurt when Chad starts spending all his time with Jeremy. Only his family's new dog, Tina, can make him feel better, but she's been acting funny lately. And she's not the only one. The Zombie Zappers soon realize Rotfield is facing a rare zombie epidemic. And Leo and the rest of the gang won't be able to save their town without the help of Chad's new best friend.

The ever popular zombie is here with some elementary level twists. Leo a self-proclaimed Zombie Zapper, and his friend, Roger, half-zombie, are looking for the truths about the zombies living all around them. Leo has a website dedicated to exposing zombies while Roger tries to find and create a cure for himself. Part mystery, part science fiction, and very humorous, each book in the series has a different angle where the characters try to find out what is turning people into zombies. Scientific research is discussed, as well as deductive reasoning to solve problems. New vocabulary terms are explained through the characters' dialogue. The series is great for lower level readers, it will hold their attention. Recommended, Library Media Connection October 2014
