Attractive layouts, clear directions, and experiments branching from curiosity and developing in complexity are a sure winner in this series of technology-rich science projects. In Electric Motor Experiments, readers are introduced to how motors work before examining basic properties of electricity. Readers explore electricity in more depth in Solar Cell and Renewable Energy with experiments using solar cells. There are lots of interesting concepts to explore and the author has taken care to provide clear, detailed steps for each experiment, offering troubleshooting tips during the construction process and providing probing questions to expand the readers understanding. While many readers may be unfamiliar with certain objects needed for each experiment, the author has noted sources for locating the items. Though full color photographs are included throughout to illustrate finished projects, readers approaching these concepts for the first time would have benefited from step-by-step illustrations for the more complex experiments. Nevertheless, the text is clearly written and the introduction accompanying each chapter does an excellent job of acclimating readers to each new concept. Science-minded readers will revel for hours in these cool science projects with technology., Library Media Connection October 2011
