Fall Colors
When fall arrives, the harvest colors of the season are on display. Color can be found everywhere, in pumpkins, acorns, and of course leaves that are soon to drop from the trees. Using sight words and simple sentences, early readers are shown the colors of the rainbow, and then find each color of the rainbow as the book progresses. Contains large, readable text.

In this series "All About Colors of the Seasons," the words to know are listed on the contents page. Unfortunately, the opportunity to introduce a dozen colors is lost since red and yellow are repeated in each title of the series. The rainbow of colors is not accurate, since it leaves out indigo. It is a disservice to kids to only show six of the seven colors especially since the book Over and Under by Jane Katirgis is from the same publisher and does the job accurately. The plus is the identification of the item associated with each color. The opening spread presents a ripe red apple. A large orange pumpkin, a yellow leaf, green acorns, blueberries (which mostly ripen in the summer months), a white dog and a black cat decked out for the one of kids favorite holidays—Halloween. The final page asks readers to identify the colors in the young girl's wig. It is not a particularly impressive introduction to fall. The closing page contains references to two older books, websites, and an index. This book is designated guided reading level "B" with the word count of twenty-eight., Children's Literature
