Trace is an overview for most of the series, covering fingerprints, blood and DNA analysis, gunshot residue, and other topics that are examined in more detail in the other titles. Cybercrime stands a little apart from the other books since it surveys the history of electronic crimes from phone phreaking to Internet piracy. Though the general focus is on crimes against humans, DNA includes a chapter on "Wildlife Forensics" and the trade in elephant ivory and other illegal animal products.
