I See Stars

Beginning readers find that stars are not just in the sky. Young learners will delight in full-color photographs and easy-to-read text.

Simple sentences, one to a page, accompany photographs of items found in everyday living: picture frames, blocks (Squares), the American flag, the star atop a Christmas tree (Stars). The dull-colored stock photos are unappealing. The subdued rhyming text is at times rather dry (e.g., this is fund to draw; This my sister saw (Stars) with little connection to the corresponding picture. Better choices include Do You See Shapes? (Childrens Press, 2010) and Karen Nagels Shapes That Roll (Blue Apple, 2009)., School Library Journal December 2010
