What better way to explain the scientific process than through ten easy hands-on experiments that demonstrate the different steps. In the book, Master the Scientific Method with Fun Life Science Projects, our young scientists go from making a prediction with one experiment about observing a pets habits to communicating the findings with another experiment about watching a local habitat through two seasons. They must record the changes in plants and animals. Some of the experiments require that an adult be present so adults should be aware that students may need help with this book. The book also offers opportunities for the young scientist to use their data for science fairs and for further research. They only need simple household items and others found in any retail store including graphing paper, measuring cups, gloves, a camera, etc. A chalkboard image on the first page of each chapter gives a list of items needed, and bold face print indicates vocabulary words. The authors, Benbow and Mably, employ simple text and outstanding organizational skills to bring together a book to encourage young scientists to explore the world around them. Labaff, the illustrator, creates drawings that clearly demonstrate the way to conduct these experiments. Random facts on sticky-note-sized squares share cool information, including how bad predictions can turn into good things like Post-it notes and Teflon coating. Make sure to use the glossary at the back of the book to reinforce/build vocabulary. This book is part of the Real Life Science Experiments series., Children's Literature
