The Bighorn Sheep
Almost hunted to extinction during the past hundred years, several subspecies of bighorn sheep are now threatened with extinction. Poaching, disease, natural predators, loss of habitat, and even global warming are some of the threats to their existence. Author Stephen Feinstein takes readers to the mountains and deserts of western North America for a look at the lives of these amazing climbers. Filled with facts about the sheep's physical and social characteristics, the book also focuses on current efforts to protect these "kings of the crags" and ways that all of us can become involved.

Some students may appreciate how, with the subheadings, web references, and publisher's updated web links, there's little work left to do on their own.
